2021 Audi RS6 Avant review: Swiss Army Wagon

That’s one mean soccer-match machine.

Having a friend who owns a station wagon is like having a friend who’s a vegan or who owns a rescue dog: You’re never going to hear the end of it. The era of crossovers has given these low-slug longroofs new life among a small but vocal subset of automotive fans who want you to wake up and realize that not everybody needs a sun-blotting SUV. The 2021 Audi RS6 Avant is treated like a demigod in this circle, and for good reason: It combines ample storage and enough torque to affect plate tectonics in a package that makes for one of the most compelling daily drivers for sale today.

  • Killer looks
  • Balls-out performance
  • Storage galore

Don’t Like

  • Big wheels = stiff-ish ride
  • Requires money to purchase

There’s no mistaking the RS6 Avant for anything else. The body is low and long, really hammering home that battleship metaphor thanks to the no-cost Nardo Grey paint color and the $6,350(!) Carbon Optic package that replaces all hints of exterior chrome trim with carbon fiber. This pack also adds 22-inch alloy wheels that fill the wheel wells amply. How long you need to wait for your second stimulus check would depend on who you are

The IRS sent the first stimulus check to different groups first.

Negotiations to pass a new relief package won’t resume until after Tuesday’s election, leaving the timeline for a second stimulus payment still anybody’s game.

“People are suffering and they need help,” said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said on MSNBC on Oct. 30. “We know that very well because we represent those people.” The same day, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell suggested that economic assistance for businesses could wait until early in the new year.

With talks shifting to after the election, we’ve mapped out some potential dates a bill could pass and what it means for another stimulus check, depending how you’ll get your money. (More on that below.)

If a new stimulus check is funded in the post-election period, qualifying Americans will likely be parsed into priority groups by the IRS and will receive the money in waves over the course of several months — the first stimulus payment operated in the same way. Keep reading for more explanation. We regularly update this story.

Apple has announced its third product reveal event in as many months, with the latest scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 10 a.m. PT / 1 p.m. ET. It’s expected the company will announce the latest generation of Apple Silicon-powered Mac laptops and desktops.

What to expect from the Nov. 10 Apple event: Silicon-powered Macs

According to TechRepublic sister site CNET, Apple has been tight-lipped about its Nov. 10 product reveal event, and the only thing that’s expected is a new generation of Macs powered by Apple Silicon chips. Apple has been secretive enough that the types of Macs presumably being revealed at the event–desktops or laptops–isn’t even known.

As written by CNET’s Ian Sherr, the launch of new Macs powered exclusively by Apple Silicon will be a big departure for the company, which since 2006 has been making machines powered by Intel chips. Apple has said it will continue to sell and support Intel Macs
