FuboTV review: Solid choice for sports fans, but with some holes in its game

In the near future, live TV streaming services like YouTube TV, Sling TV and FuboTV are what live television is going to look like. There’ll be no set-top cable box — instead all of your live TV shows will be streamed over the internet. To differentiate itself from rivals, FuboTV has a sports-centric focus, and the addition of Disney-owned networks like ABC and ESPN helps fill out gaps in its schedule. The attendant $5 increase to $60 per month also makes Fubo one of the most expensive options.

  • Solid selection of channels with a sports bent
  • Fans of soccer will find plenty to love
  • Quick and easy navigation, especially on Roku

Don’t Like

  • Lacks CNN, TNT, TBS and other Turner channels
  • YouTube TV is better overall for $5 more
  • Hulu Live is a better value for $5 less

FuboTV has a robust channel lineup, and changes to the interface and suggestion engine have made it a lot more usable and fun, but I like two other services in this price range better. The cheaper Hulu Plus Live TV offers better value and a wealth of on-demand content, while YouTube TV offers a better experience and even more

2020 Toyota Land Cruiser review: The old guard still has it

The Heritage Edition’s bronze wheels are fantastic.

Kyle Hyatt/Roadshow

Toyota’s Land Cruiser has remained mostly unchanged in the US since the 200-series was introduced back in 2007. That kind of longevity in the automotive industry is rare and for most vehicles, it would be a death sentence. But for the Land Cruiser, that’s just how the owners like it and the 2020 Toyota Land Cruiser Heritage Edition is maybe the ultimate expression of that if-it-ain’t-broke-don’t-fix-it loyalty.

  • Feels like it’ll last forever
  • Undeniable off-road prowess
  • Smooth on-road manners
  • Heritage Edition styling is epic

Don’t Like

  • Horrendous fuel economy
  • No Apple CarPlay or Android Auto
  • $90,000 price tag

All of the Land Cruiser’s bones are old, from its body-on-frame construction to its large, naturally aspirated V8. While Toyota’s 3UR-FB engine isn’t what anyone would call the picture of efficiency, it’s got other qualities that make it the perfect gasoline engine for the Land Cruiser.

To start, the 5.7-liter dual-overhead-cam V8 produces reasonable amounts of power and torque — 381 horsepower and 401 pound-feet — so the Land Cruiser doesn’t feel slow or ponderous on the road. That in and of itself is an achievement when you consider the Cruiser’s approximately 6,000-pound

Second stimulus check for 2020: What’s the most money you would get? It depends

With another stimulus package in the works, how much money could end up in your pocket?

Sarah Tew/CNET

There’s one thing you want to know: how big your next stimulus check could be, and how much money you and your family could get with the next payment. That depends on a lot of factors outside of your control, including if a deal can be reached by Friday and what happens if it isn’t.

Based on the final bill’s eligibility requirements, you could get a check that’s bigger than you did from the first stimulus payment. If negotiators base the rescue package on the HEALS Act, for example, some families could receive an additional $500 for dependents who didn’t qualify the first time. Both the Democratic-led House of Representatives and President Donald Trump have proposed larger stimulus payments, though a bigger check seems like a long shot at this stage.

Nearing the end of the second week of negotiations, the chances of reaching an agreement before the weekend looks iffy. “We might not get a deal,” The Hill reported Sen. Richard Shelby, a Republican from Alabama, saying Thursday. “There’s a lot of pessimism here. Are we too

Samsung Galaxy Watch3 vs. Apple Watch 5

With new health features, Samsung’s latest smartwatch may be tempting: Should you buy a Galaxy Watch3 or an Apple Watch 5?

The Samsung Galaxy Watch3

Samsung released a slew of products at its Galaxy Unpacked event, and its latest smartwatch, the Galaxy Watch3, was among them.

It’s undoubtedly a gorgeous device, with the standard Samsung rotating bezel and a round design that the company said was modeled after older precision timepieces of the analog age. The Galaxy Watch3 also packs some big improvements over last generation’s version, including a blood oxygen sensor, thinner body, and slightly larger screen.

But what about the other top-tier smartwatch on the market? The Apple Watch 5 is every bit a competitor to the Galaxy Watch3, and picking a watch between the two might be tricky if you’re tempted by the just-revealed Galaxy Watch3.

HP Envy 17 review: A home laptop that’s sleek and satisfying, but not a standout

Sarah Tew/CNET

It’s not particularly cheap, or particularly fast, or particularly light or particularly… anything. But the HP Envy 17 is a stylish everyday workhorse laptop that I like with a large, 17-inch screen that gives it a little extra productivity oomph for remote work or school. You end up paying extra for a discrete Nvidia GeForce MX330 graphics processor that you don’t really need, which bumps it out of “good deal” territory, but it’s certainly still a good laptop for the money.

  • Sleek-looking and well constructed
  • Good keyboard, albeit with poorly placed power button

Don’t Like

  • 4K screen is very reflective
  • Could use another USB-C connection or two

Now that I don’t have to schlep a laptop between home and the office, I’ve become quite a fan of 17-inch models. If you’re working or remote schooling with just a single laptop screen, then opting for 17 inches can help quite a bit. Even if you can’t effectively quantify the advantages — you can fit three more worksheet columns on the screen! — for some reason the slightly bigger screen goes a long way to making it feel less cramped.

Prices for the Envy 17 range from around $1,000
